Earlier yesterday, the Executive Governor of Abia State, His Excellency, Dr. Alex Chioma Otti, OFR, was the keynote speaker at the Oxford Global Think Tank Leadership Conference on better leadership for a better Nigeria, organized and hosted by an Abia-born Nigerian economist and former Treasurer and Vice President of the World Bank, Ms Arunma Oteh, OON. The occasion also featured the public presentation of the book, All Hands on Deck: Unleash Prosperity through World Class Capital Market, authored by Ms Arunma Oteh.

Governor Otti, in his speech, challenged the dignitaries and leaders of thought present at the event to embrace discipline in the exercise of leadership authority, the powers of ideas, and the courage of execution.
“Every society thrives or falls on the strength of the ideas developed and propagated by its thought leaders – the individuals whose opinions direct the ebbs and flows of public conversation, morality, and values”
Governor Otti urged every leader who sought progress to prioritize education and human capital development, saying that without education, “the largest deposit of precious minerals will only amount to little and could actually trigger undesirable outcomes”.
He thanked the founder of the Oxford Global Think Tank, Ms Arunma Oteh, OON, for convening the event and for the excellent use of her platform to consistently point our people to the right direction, describing her as one of the country’s brightest exports. Governor Otti went further to appreciate Ms Arunma Oteh for using his new book not only for sharing very incisive thoughts on the pathway to prosperity through the capital market but also for presenting very important leadership lessons and a new paradigm for national development, eulogizing Prof. Oteh for remaining a shining light to the Nation at 60.
Governor Otti reiterated his commitment to quality healthcare delivery to the people as part of his administration’s broader program for human capital development, having consistently set aside 15% of the State’s projected annual public expenditure outlay to healthcare.
The conference attracted several high-profile dignitaries and leaders of thought from across the country who gathered to discuss pathways to effective governance and national development.
