Earlier yesterday, the Executive Governor of Abia State, His Excellency, Dr. Alex Otti, OFR, alongside other prominent personalities, attended the burial ceremony of late Dr. Chris Asoluka (Okwuruoha), who was laid to rest in his hometown of Ihiagwa, after a funeral service at St. John’s Anglican Church, Ihiagwa in Imo State, Nigeria.
Late Dr. Chris Asoluka, who hails from Umuemeze Village, Ihiagwa Autonomous Community, Owerri West LGA, Imo State, worked briefly with the Nigeria Customs Service before joining politics. He once represented Owerri Federal Constituency in the National Assembly. He was also a former Commissioner for Finance and Economic Development in Imo State, among other public offices he held while he lived.

In his condolence message to the family, Governor Otti described Dr. Asoluka as “a man of uncommon pedigree. Until his passing, he was a visionary strategist in development and public policy, a prolific scholar, and an intellectual giant.
”Beyond being a firm believer in the Nigerian vision, Dr. Asoluka distinguished himself in the service to the nation with dignity, honesty, and unwavering commitment. His life was defined by principled public service, consistent advocacy for justice and equity, and an unyielding pursuit of excellence,” Governor Otti stated.
While noting that words may not be enough to console the family during this grieving period, he urged them to take comfort in the fact that he “lived a fulfilled and exemplary life, remained a pillar of strength and guidance to his family and those around him, and has gone to rest in the bosom of the Lord,” Gov. Otti added.
Other prominent personalities who attended the burial include the 2023 Presidential Candidate of the Labour Party, Mr. Peter Obi, the Deputy Governor of Imo State, Lady Chinyere Ekomaru, the Vice Chancellor of the Federal University of Technology, Owerri (FUTO), Prof. Mrs. Nnenna Oti, and Prof. Pat Utomi, among others.
