2027: NVOSI STAKEHOLDERS ENDORSE GOV. OTTI FOR SECOND TERM AS HE ANNOUNCES COMMENCEMENT OF GOVERNORSHIP CAMPAIGN.

Stakeholders across different political parties from over 50 villages and four blocs of the Nvosi Clan in Isiala Ngwa South LGA have endorsed Governor Alex Otti, OFR, as their sole Governorship candidate for the 2027 election.

The endorsement took place on Sunday, October 25, 2026, during a stakeholders’ solidarity meeting held in the Governor’s hometown, Nvosi, Isiala Ngwa South LGA.

Speaking while accepting the endorsement from his kinsmen, Governor Alex Otti announced that the Abia State Labour Party would commence its governorship campaign on Sunday, November 1, 2026, with a Church service at the Umuahia Township Stadium, to be followed by the formal kick-off of the campaign.

Governor Otti thanked his kinsmen for endorsing him and for standing by him, acknowledging that they had always supported him except that some bad politicians manipulated the electoral process in the past. Gov. Otti assured them that he was not afraid of the forthcoming election.

“We want to assure you that we are not afraid,” Governor Otti stated.

The Governor noted that all he has achieved within three years and a few months in office is just the beginning of greater things to come. The State Chief Executive added that he is paying greater attention to Aba and Umuahia because of their capacity to generate revenue to drive the development of other parts of the State.

Gov. Otti assured the people of Nvosi of more democratic dividends, particularly in road infrastructure and the establishment of an industry. He also disclosed that the ongoing Abia Airport project would be completed in 2028, noting that airline operators are already showing interest in the Airport.

Earlier, the Labour Party Senatorial Candidate for Abia Central, Senator Darlington Nwokocha, said the meeting was convened to appreciate the Governor for his giant strides in office, for making his kinsmen proud, and to endorse him as their sole candidate for the 2027 governorship election.

In their separate speeches, elder statesman Dr. Gershon Amuta and other stakeholders and opinion leaders, including Elder Ishmael Onuoha, Elder Israel Nwogwugwu, and the NUT Chairman in Isiala Ngwa South LGA, Mrs. Evelyn Amaike, said Governor Otti has performed excellently and better than past Governors. They expressed pride in him as their kinsman and affirmed his endorsement as their sole candidate for the 2027 governorship ballot.

They urged him not to be distracted by the antics of the opposition, whom they accused of never having the State’s best interest at heart. They also said that the libations poured against their son, Governor Otti, by some opposition members would backfire, encouraging the Governor not to be afraid of what they described as worthless libations.

The Archbishop of the Aba Ecclesiastical Province of the Anglican Church, Most Rev. Isaac Nwobia, who led the Nvosi Ministers’ Forum in prayers for the Governor at the meeting, commended his people-centered service and transformational leadership in Abia State and assured him of their support for his re-election.

In separate interviews with journalists, the Commissioner for Power and Public Utilities, Engr. Ikechukwu Monday; the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Transportation, Associate Professor Obioma Nwogbe; and the Deputy General Manager of the Abia State Environmental Protection Agency (ASEPA), Aba Zone, Elder Okezie Ezengwa, said the endorsement represented the collective position of stakeholders from the four blocs of Nvosi, cutting across political parties. They added that it was a natural expression of the people’s appreciation for the Governor’s good works.

Engr. Ikechukwu Monday noted:

“This endorsement cuts across the entire community, the four clans in the area, and all stakeholders, including the clergy, traditional rulers, village heads, women leaders, youths, and other members of the community. We believe that our son has performed well, and we are proud of his achievements. Today’s gathering is an opportunity for us to recognise and appreciate the good work our son is doing across Abia State. That is the essence of this endorsement.”

For Dr. Obioma Nwogbe:

“All the stakeholders from over 50 villages gathered here today to show support for Dr. Alex Otti. He has made all Nvosi people proud in all sectors, starting from education, to transport, road infrastructure, health, communication, and digital economy. The Nvosi people are proud and solidly behind him.”

Elder Okezie Ezengwa, on his part, explained:

“The implication of this endorsement is that our son, Governor Alex Otti, has made us proud, and we are very proud of his achievements. Because of the good work he has done, we are fully behind him and will continue to support him all the way, even beyond 2027. As stakeholders, we are working behind the scenes at the grassroots level to mobilise the people and ensure that everyone comes out to support him when the time comes.”
