Earlier yesterday, Saturday, July 12th, His Excellency, Dr. Alex Otti, OFR, alongside the Senate President of Nigeria, Senator Godswill Akpabio, and other dignitaries attended the wedding ceremony of his little cousin Sharon Chidera, who is also a niece of the Hon. Minister of Works, Senator Dave Umahi, and her husband, Mr. John Chukwudi.
Speaking during the wedding ceremony, which was held at Park and Garden, No. 1 Stadium Road, Port Harcourt, Rivers State, Governor Otti enjoined the newly wedded couple to love themselves. He told them that if they selflessly work together, the marriage will last.
Gov. Otti wished them marital bliss, fruits of the womb, and the resources to take care of their children just like their parents took care of them.
While stating that there will be disagreements sometimes, he advised the couple to always resolve their issues within themselves, not allowing any third party in their marriage. He advised that if they must involve a third party in resolving their issues, it should be their pastor, provided they are confident that he can.
Governor Otti advised the parents and relatives to allow them to marry each other without interference.
The Governor was accompanied to the wedding ceremony by the Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Kenneth Kalu, his Chief of Staff, Pastor Caleb Ajagba, Ph.D, and the Commissioner for Power and Public Utilities, Engr. Ikechukwu Monday.
