The body of late Chief Monday Anokwuru, father of the Special Adviser to the Governor on policies and interventions, Rev. Fr. Christian Anokwuru has been laid to rest in his country home, Ngodo Autonomous Community, Umunwanwa, Umuahia South LGA.
Speaking at the funeral service held at the Saints Andrew and Charles Catholic Church, Umunwanwa, Governor Alex Otti noted that the deceased lived a life worthy of emulation in the service of God and humanity, urging the family to uphold the legacies of their late father.
Governor Otti who commiserated with the Anokwuru family over the demise of their patriarch, advised them not to weep like people without hope of eternal life.
He said that the deceased knows where he would spend eternity having dedicated his life to the service of God and urged Christians to live a good life while on Earth and leave worthy legacies for which they would be remembered when they are no more
Governor Otti, who used the opportunity to announce that he would give a facelift to the Saints Andrew and Charles Catholic Church with his personal money, thanked Rev. Fr. Anokwuru for standing behind him in his political battles since 2015.
He assured Abians that his administration is committed to the development of the State by delivering democracy dividends to the people.
Earlier, the Chief Mourner and Special Adviser to the Governor on policies and interventions, Rev. Fr. Christian Anokwuru described their late father as a committed Christian who gave his life to the service of God and the community, noting that the deceased served Umunwanwa community council for 12-years.
Rev Father Anokwuru who recounted the life and times of his late father, noted that despite his meager resources, his late father gave them the best attention.
He thanked Governor Otti, the entire State Executive Council members and all those who stood in solidarity with the family throughout the period of grief.
The burial was attended by the wife of the Governor, Her Excellency, Mrs Priscilla Otti, the Deputy Governor, His Excellency, Engr. Ikechukwu Emetu and wife, Deputy Speaker Abia State House of Assembly among other top Government officials.
