Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Otti, has called for collective responsibility in promoting justice and upholding righteousness in Abia State.
Governor Otti made the call on Saturday, during the grand finale of Alaigbo Sunrise Prayer Crusade, organised by the East Mandate Global held at Aba South Local Government Area headquarters. He stressed one need for all to be their brothers’ keeper, emphasising that righteousness exalts a nation.
“For us, we have a responsibility, and that responsibility is to be our brothers’ keeper. We should say something when we see something.
“The Bible said that righteousness exalts a nation. We are not perfect; we are human beings, but we would not see anything that is wrong and support it. That is one of the secrets of this government in the last 22 months,” Gov. Otti stated.
Governor Otti reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to upholding righteousness and urged citizens to embrace hard work, integrity, and accountability.
He emphasized the significance of covenants, noting that the event marks a “celebration of the great emancipation of the Abia people”.
“Covenants are one of the most important things in the Bible. I’m sure you may have heard about the seven covenants right from our first father, Adam, Abraham, Noah, Moses, and David. There are seven covenants, nd then you get to the new and the everlasting covenant.
“Covenants symbolize a binding relationship, so that is what has happened here, nd that is what happened in 2023 shortly after we took office.
“You may not believe it, but it works. Whatever is bound on Earth is bound in heaven, and whatever is released here is released in heaven”, Gov. Otti emphasised.
The Governor cautioned against complacency nd stressed that faith in God must be accompanied by hard work and diligence.
“Because you have entered into a covenant doesn’t mean you should go and sleep. God works with what you have in your hands. If you have nothing, there will be nothing to bless”, he stated.
The Governor, who also took a firm stance against fraudulent activities and cult practices, condemned those who engage in cybercrime, occultism, nd rituals and enjoined communities to reject individuals who acquire wealth through corrupt means and attempt to destabilize the society.
“We must not celebrate those who steal money. If someone comes to your village flaunting wealth and trying to remove the traditional ruler to install himself, we will not recognize such a person.
“All the young men involved in ‘Yahoo Yahoo Plus’ and other devil-worshipping practices today, it will not work for you again. If it was working before, it will never work again,” Gov. Otti declared.
The Governor expressed gratitude to Apostle Nzimiro and other ministers of God for their support, prayers, and role in enthroning spiritual and moral guidance in Abia State.
Earlier, the Convener, Alaigbo Sunrise Prayer Crusade and vision bearer of the East Global Mandate, Apostle Ofodile Nzimiro said that Igbo land has been ordained by God to be a land overflowing with wealth and prosperity.
Apostle Nzimiro noted that recent happenings in Igbo land have shown that God is not being glorified for the blessings He has bestowed upon Ndigbo and said that, that has led to setbacks.
He called on Ndigbo to return to God and mend their ways before Him to pave the way for the wave of divine restoration coming to Igbo land.
Apostle Ofodile Nsimiro commended Governor Otti for returning Abia State to God shortly after his election as Governor of Abia State.
The Prayer Summit also featured prayers for Abia State, the Southeast geopolitical zone, Governor Otti and his cabinet as well as music ministrations from renowned gospel singers among others.
