The Governor of Abia State, His Excellency, Dr. Alex Otti, OFR, on Sunday, August 2, 2026, joined family, friends, well-wishers, and members of Apostolic Fire Ministries International at a thanksgiving service to celebrate the Founder and General Overseer of the Ministry, Prophet Mike Akindapo, on his birthday.
The service was held at the headquarters of Apostolic Fire Ministries International, Plot 3 Peter Odili Road, Trans Amadi, Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
Speaking during the service, Governor Otti described Prophet Akindapo as one of the people who believed in him and stood firmly by his governorship aspiration from 2014 until 2023, when the vision eventually became a reality. This was despite the setbacks of 2015 and 2019 when he was robbed of his electoral victories.
The Governor thanked God for preserving his life through difficult and gory experiences that would have ended his life, noting that divine grace has continued to sustain him.
He also appreciated members of the church for their unwavering support for Prophet Akindapo’s Ministry and prayed for God’s continued blessings upon him.
In his remarks, Prophet Mike Akindapo commended Governor Otti for what he described as the remarkable transformation taking place in Abia State under his administration.
He cited notable achievements in transportation, road infrastructure, healthcare, education, environmental sanitation, and waste management. He stated that Abia, once regarded as a State lagging behind, has now emerged as one of Nigeria’s leading States in several key development indices through Governor Otti’s visionary leadership.
Preaching from 1 Kings 17, which recounts the encounter between Prophet Elijah and the widow of Zarephath, Prophet Akindapo highlighted five key lessons from the scripture: Do not let anyone write you off, Do not write yourself off, Help is on the way, Keep believing in God and His prophets, and God will bless you day by day.
The cleric offered prayers for Governor Otti and members of his entourage, asking God to continue to protect and guide the Governor, grant him greater wisdom in leading Abia State to higher levels of development, and grant him resounding success in the 2027 gubernatorial election.
Government officials who joined the Governor in the thanksgiving include: Professor Joel Ogbonna – Commissioner for Petroleum and Solid Minerals, Hon. Chibunna Akara – Mayor, Ukwa East LGA, Pastor Dike Nwankwo – Mayor, Ukwa West LGA, among others.
